Oscars 2023: Colin Farrell joined by teen son Henry Tadeusz

Colin Farrell was joined by his 13-year-old son Henry Tadeusz at the 95th Academy Awards.

Irish actor Colin, 46, was up for the Best Actor Oscar for his role as Pádraic Súilleabháin The Banshees Of Inisherin

Although missing out on the gong to Brendan Fraser – who won for his performance as a reclusive English teacher with morbid obesity in The Whale – Farrell had a great time on the red carpet with his teen son.

The pair walked the champagne-coloured carpet – an Oscars first – together, posing for pictures.

In a departure from previous years, the Oscars swapped its usual red carpet for a champagne carpet, with stars including Bill Nighy and Cate Blanchett wearing a blue ribbon as part of an initiative from the United Nations refugee agency, the UNHCR.

Farrell shares Henry with his ex-partner, the Polish actress Alicja Bachleda-Curuś. The couple split in 2010 after meeting on the set of Ondine a few years earlier.

The father-son duo both wore black tuxedos for their appearance.

The proud Irishman Colin also wore a badge of Ireland’s tricolour flag on his lapel.

His Oscar nod was his first nomination. He has previously won two Golden Globe Awards: one for In Bruges in 2009 and one for his role in The Banshees Of Inisherin.

Brendan Fraser hailed the virtues of “perseverance” after scooping the Academy Award for best actor at the 95th awards ceremony for his performance in The Whale.

The Hollywood actor, 54, said he felt “light in the head” following his win but said the film, which scooped two Oscars during Sunday’s ceremony, would “change hearts and minds”.

Fraser beat Elvis’ Austin Butler, Irish actors Colin Farrell from The Banshees Of Inisherin and Paul Mescal from Aftersun, as well as British actor Bill Nighy for Living.

The accolade is Fraser’s first Oscar nomination and win.
