Oregon woman sold home to son-in-law, says he promised she could stay for life; court rejects claim

An Oregon woman who sold her home to her son-in-law for $270,000 in 2006, despite the property being worth approximately $398,000, has lost a legal dispute over her claimed right to live there for the rest of her life. The Oregon Court of Appeals ruled that the written sale documents transferred her entire ownership interest and did not reserve a life estate, a legal arrangement that would have allowed her to remain in the property for life.
