OPINION - Tech & Science Daily podcast: Theranos founder to start 11-year prison sentence

Elizabeth Holmes was once compared to Steve Jobs, but the disgraced founder of failed blood-testing start-up Theranos once worth billions will begin her prison sentence at the end of April.

A California judge denied Holmes her request to remain free while she appeals her conviction.

Holmes was convicted on four counts of fraud and conspiracy related to Theranos in January 2022.

Twitter owner Elon Musk has been discussing the stresses of buying the social network in a deal worth $43 billion.

At the same time, Musk says he will update the BBC’s “government-funded media” tag after the broadcaster objected to the label.

An Esa spacecraft is due to launch from Earth this week on the hunt for alien life as far afield as the icy moons of Saturn and Jupiter.

The team says their analysis supports theories suggesting sauropods used Antarctica as a pathway between South America and Australia between 100 and 95 million years ago.
