One person was taken to hospital with 'chest injuries' following a crash involving two vehicles in Sunderland.
Emergency crews attended the scene on Queen Alexandra Road at its junction with Victoria Avenue following reports of a collision involving two cars from approximately 9.45am this morning (January 23). One person was in need of further medical assistance at the scene.
A fire engine from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service attended the scene to assist the North East Ambulance Service, while ChronicleLive understands that police were present to manage traffic.

One person was subsequently taken to hospital with chest injuries.
A spokesperson for North East Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 9.45 this morning (January 23) to attend a road traffic collision on Queen Alexandra Road at its junction with Victoria Avenue involving two cars.
"A paramedic ambulance was dispatched and treated one patient with chest injuries before transporting to hospital."
A representative from Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service said: "We went to the scene of a two-vehicle RTC on Queen Alexandra Road at its junction with Victoria Avenue Avenue West.
"The North East Ambulance Service contacted us. Police attended the scene to help with traffic management and casualties had already self rescued when we got there.
"One appliance from was in attendance from Sunderland. The first call came at 09.53am and we were in attendance at 10.07am."
A Northumbria Police spokesperson said: "At 9.50am yesterday (Monday) we received a report of a two-vehicle collision on Queen Alexandra Road in Sunderland.
"Emergency services attended and the driver of one of the vehicles was taken to hospital with injuries that are not believed to be life-threatening. The driver of the second vehicle also went to hospital as a precaution."
