'One of the best pullers in Test cricket': Brett Lee says 'blessed' to see Rohit Sharma play over the years

NEW DELHI: Brett Lee on Monday praised Rohit Sharma, expressing how blessed he feels to have witnessed the Indian captain's cricketing journey over the years. The former Australian pacer particularly highlighted Rohit's masterful pull shot, which he believes is among the best in Test cricket.

Lee's admiration for Rohit stems from the Indian captain's ability to execute this challenging shot with finesse and power, a skill that has set him apart as one of the game's finest.

"Blessed to see Rohit Sharma play over the years, he has one of the best pull shots in Test cricket," said Lee on Fox Cricket podcast.

The Kiwis chased down the 107-run target with 8 wickets in hand shortly before lunch on Day 5 in the first Test at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru to take a 1-0 series lead in the three-match series on Sunday.

"We knew what was ahead after India were bowled out for 46 runs in their first innings," Rohit, who became the first Indian captain to lose a Test match against New Zealand in India in 36 years, said while reflecting on the defeat after the match.

On India's defeat against NZ, Lee said, "Look, it was a wicket that was probably conducive to fast bowling in that first innings and they just put the ball in the right spot. William O'Rourke bowled particularly well. Matt Henry's obviously brilliant with the ball and a lot more experience."

Lee is quite impressed with the way young left-handed batter Yashasvi Jaiswal bat.

"Jaiswal is very flamboyant. He's a run machine and he's an aggressive young left hander that's quite whippy, but also is great at playing that crossbat shot. I love a batsman that plays a crossbat shot," Lee said on the podcast.
