One in five homeowners have not had their boiler serviced in the last 12 months, and worry that it could be faulty – or even dangerous.
Over a quarter (28%), of 2,000 adults polled, were not aware that it is recommended by experts to have a boiler service once a year – and 7% admit they can't remember the last time they had one.
Worryingly, one in three homes don't have a carbon monoxide detector fitted, while 19% are unsure whether they do or not.
