One Direction Singer Liam Payne Has Died Aged 31 After Falling From Buenos Aires Hotel Room

Liam Payne — the English singer best known for being a member of One Direction — has reportedly died in Buenos Aires, aged 31.

CNN reports that Payne was found dead after falling from the third floor of the hotel where he was staying with his partner Katie Cassidy, the Casa Sur Hotel in the Palermo neighbourhood of Argentina’s capital.

Police confirmed the tragic news in a statement:

“Liam James Payne, composer and guitarist, former member of the band One Direction, died today after falling from the third floor of a hotel in Palermo.”

Citing officials, local publications La Nacion and Clarin reported that police were called to the hotel in Palermo, responding to an emergency call that cited “an aggressive man who could be under the effects of drugs and alcohol.”

Ambulance workers later confirmed the death of the singer, who was found in an interior hotel patio, according to the news reports.

Liam Payne joined One Direction at the group’s inception in 2010 when they appeared on UK talent series X Factor.

His band mates included Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson.

After the band broke up in 2015, Payne kicked off a solo career, releasing the song “Strip That Down” in 2017 and the album LP1 in 2019.

Rest in peace, legend.
