Whenever the Boston Celtics get a chance to play their age-old rivals, the Los Angeles Lakers, it is more than just a game. Whether it is Game 7 of the NBA Finals, a regular-season contest in the middle of November or a preseason tilt that means nothing, fans of both franchises get up for the matchup.
So when news broke the two longtime adversaries are scheduled to play on Dec. 25 as one of the league’s Christmas Day marquee contests — arguably the most important calendar day of the regular season — it’s safe to say it’s already been circled on a number of fan calendars.
