NEW DELHI: PM Modi on Sunday said India is doing wonders in the solar as well as the space sectors, and the whole world is “surprised” to see the achievements of the country. In his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio broadcast, he noted Isro’s recent success in placing 36 satellites in space simultaneously, while noting that India was once denied the cryogenic rocket technology but its scientists developed indigenous technology to overcome the challenges.
With his monthly radio programme ‘coinciding with ‘Chhath Puja’ when the sun is worshipped, the PM said solar energy is the blessing of the sun god who has not only been revered for centuries, but has also been the focus of people’s way of life in India.
Modi said, “The tradition of worshipping the Sun is a proof of how deep our culture, our faith, is related to nature. Through this puja the importance of sunlight in our life has been illustrated. Along with this, the message has also been conveyed that ups and downs are an integral part of life (in reference to Chhath Puja where people worship the sun during both its rising and setting phase).
