On Jaylen Brown’s critique of in-season tournament court safety

It seems there are more reasons than the aesthetic ones we have heard so much about to dislike the NBA’s new courts created for the in-season tournament. Star Boston Celtics forward Jaylen Brown’s criticism of the league’s in-season tournament courts.

Brown expressed concern about the slippery court conditions postgame after slipping himself and hurting his groin after a night of watching teammates and Toronto Raptors players slip and fall as well. The Georgia native, emphasizing player safety and the potential impact on game outcomes, was sharply critical of the courts after Boston’s win on Friday. Added to other instances of players slipping on different courts around the league, and the need for the NBA to prioritize safety over aesthetic considerations couldn’t be greater given the early returns on court safety.

The hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast took a deep dive into the topic on a recent episode.
