Olivia Attwood says I'm A Celebrity exit down to 'insurance' after being holed up in hotel

Olivia Attwood left the jungle amidst a blaze of speculation. Ant and Dec announced on air that 'medical reasons' had forced her exit but now the former Love Island finalist is blaming 'insurance' issues, according to one report.

Attwood left the ITV show and headed back to the UK just hours after her adventure had begun. As she gave her first TV interview since her shock departure from the jungle, she explained that she was holed up in a hotel as a decision on her future on the show was decided.

The official line from ITV at the time was that: "As a precautionary measure Olivia needed to leave the jungle to undergo some medical checks. Unfortunately, the medical team has advised it is not safe for Olivia to return to camp as there needs to be a further investigation. She has been absolutely brilliant and she'll be very much missed on the show."

There followed an array of explanations from various sources for the I'm a Celeb contestant's stint being cut short and viewers were left wondering what had happened to Olivia. Her family took to Instagram saying 'the truth would be revealed' adding that her exit from the show was 'out of her control.'

Nottinghamshire Live sister publication, Chronicle Live has said that it was reported over the weekend that Olivia was 'rushed to hospital' and medical tests showed that her iron levels 'were off'. This is something that was confirmed by Olivia when she joined Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby as a guest on ITV's This Morning on Monday, before telling the hosts that her not being able to go back into the jungle was down to 'insurance reasons'. She claimed the production team wanted her back in but the medical team said it wasn't advised - therefore insurance wouldn't cover..

Olivia has denied all speculation that her departure was down to her being pregnant, explaining she had to go to hospital after checks revealed her iron levels were low. Elaborating on her belief her exit was down to insurance, she said; "It was late at night and they said going back into camp tonight wouldn't work so I went to a hotel and, as I now know, conversations went right through the night. Production were obviously desperate to have me back in, but the medical team...it's an insurance thing. I think because they have those readings and they have to go and seek other opinions, third party opinions, it's like a collective decision."

She added: "I think people who read online think it's simple, but it's not. Their opinion was 'they went that low before what if we put her back in and they drop back down again. We wouldn't be covered because it had already been flagged up."

Olivia said she was absolutely gutted to not be able to go back into I'm A Celebrity after "really enjoying" the first few days of her experience. She was then asked by Holly if she'd allowed to go back next year, to which she replied that she would love to be given a second chance on the show.
