The hugely popular Oktoberfest is set to make a welcome return to Newcastle's Time Square later this year for a massive 17 day long event.
Organisers, ‘Two Tribes Org,' have confirmed that the German beer and food festival will entertain thousands of drinkers this October with live music, DJ sets and 'Kroud Karaoke'. The event, which is said to be the biggest Oktoberfest in the North East, will once again be held inside a massive party tent in Times Square that can hold more than 3,000 people.
And this year's festival will be the longest one yet, taking place from Friday, October 13 until Saturday, October 29.
Drinkers can expect a large selection of German beers and larger, as well as German dishes including Bratwurst, CurryWurst and Frankfurters, with food served directly to the hundreds of tables inside.
Oktoberfest, which has been a sell-out in previous years, is being held by the same team behind the city's popular Central Park, Euro’s Fanzone, and Paddy Fest. Organisers have promised drinkers one-off events such as ‘Kroud Karaoke’, ‘Lets Play Darts’, Bingo events and also a closing Halloween weekend, with dates to be confirmed.
Mike Hesketh, from organisers ‘Two Tribes Org', said: "It just keeps getting bigger and better every year! The popularity in the Oktoberfest celebrations seem to be growing every year, with more and more dressing up in traditional Bavarian attire.
“This year not only are we supersizing the Oktoberfest tent together with more décor and production, but also we’ve added a final Saturday date on October 29, so it’s set to be a huge month of partying at Times Square!”
