If you watched the practices or the Senior Bowl game, it was pretty clear who was the best player on the field. Oklahoma defensive tackle Perrion Winfrey won the week as he was the most impressive player in Mobile.
But after an up-and-down career in Norman, where might Winfrey land in the 2022 NFL Draft and what team would make the most sense for him?
In a recent article by Bleacher Report, the Raiders were named the most ideal fit for Winfrey. Here is a snippet of their thoughts on the senior defensive tackle:
“At the Senior Bowl, Winfrey showed what he could do when he’s unleashed as a penetrating defensive tackle. He was a standout in practice but shined most in the game, winning MVP honors for his five tackles, two sacks and three tackles for a loss.
Winfrey might not have been considered one of the best defensive tackles in this class, but after his Senior Bowl week, it wouldn’t be surprising to see him land in the latter half of Round 1 or the first half of Round 2.”
The Raiders do have a big need at defensive tackle and Winfrey seems like the type of interior rusher they need. He has experience playing both defensive tackle positions and he has the ideal size and length to win inside.
While the first round does seem a bit high for Winfrey, he would make a ton of sense for the Raiders in Round 2. He’s got all the talent to be a standout defensive tackle in the NFL and could be a much better player in the pros than in college.
