The Organization of Islamic Cooperation stressed on Tuesday its support to Qatar as host of the football World Cup in wake a campaign of incitement against it.
OIC Secretary-General Hissein Brahim Taha stressed that Qatar was the first Muslim nation to ever host the landmark month-long event.
Such a development carries humanitarian and global messages of solidarity and harmony among world nations, he added.
The incitement, which is taking place less than a month before the tournament is set to kick off, is a precedent against a host nation, he noted.
No other host has ever come under such criticism, he remarked, wondering what has prompted the incitement and hostility.
Moreover, Taha stressed that Qatar’s hosting of the event will leave a lasting legacy and create a sense of pride among Arab and Muslim youth.
