Ohio State women’s soccer wins first-round NCAA Tournament battle in dominant fashion

The Ohio State Buckeyes women’s soccer team kicked off their NCAA Tournament action on Friday, and they started the tournament with a dominant 4-1 win over the James Madison Dukes.

The Buckeyes ended with four goals, all of which can be seen below. They kicked the scoring off early, notching their first goal within 60 seconds of play.

They will be facing the Auburn Tigers in the second round after being FIU 4-1 on Friday. Of note, the Buckeyes are the 3rd third seed in their quadrant while the Tigers are the 6th.

The women’s soccer team dominated throughout the season, ending with a 12-5-3 overall record and a 6-3-2 record in Big Ten action. They were 7-1-3 at home as well, where they were at Friday.

Ohio State played Auburn earlier in the season and lost 1-0 on September 8 in Alabama. It was held without a shot on goal despite having eight shots in that battle. The Buckeyes should be better this time around with far more on the line.

The No. 1 seed in Ohio State’s quadrant is the USC Trojans with the No. 2 seed being the Wake Forest Demon Deacons. The Buckeyes ended the season ranked 10th in the United Soccer Coaches ranking.
