Odsonne Edouard fired post Celtic 'bite' warning from Patrick Vieira after ending Crystal Palace goal drought

Crystal Palace striker Odsonne Edouard has been told he must be more aggressive by Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira after the former Celtic striker ended his seven month goal drought.

The French hitman left Celtic for a move to the London club in a deal worth up to £18.5 million with add-ons a year ago, but has yet to cement a starting with the English Premier League having scored just six last term. He found the net for the first time this term in the Carabao Cup win over Oxford United, having last notched a goal against Liverpool in January.

After a 15-game barren run, Palace boss Vieira wants the 24-year-old to recapture the form he showed at Celtic Park by finding his ruthless streak once again. Edouard was a bona fide Celtic star with 79 goals across 188 appearances that included a loan spell before Brendan Rodgers pushed to secure a £9m deal. Viera said: "This is what he needs, to score goals, that will build the confidence. He needs to be more decisive inside the box, to have more bite.

"Odsonne is a really, really talented player, he can do a lot of things with the ball at his feet and his movement is really good. We have to keep being more demanding of him, we have to ask him to do more and more.

"We as a staff have to work with him to get the best out of him. We will do half of the step and he has to do the other half of the step, for him to be consistent."
