Odsonne Edouard admits post Celtic struggle and the 'very different' Premier League factor

Odsonne Edouard admits it's been difficult to adapt to English Premier League football after his time at Celtic.

The French striker won a move to Patrick Vieira's side last summer after a spell at Parkhead brought 86 goals in 179 outings. Goals haven't been in regular supply in the last 12 months, with six netted for the Selhurst Park side but there's optimism ahead of the new season. Edouard reckons he's ready to go in a fight for a starting berth alongside players like Jean-Philippe Mateta and Wilfried Zaha after a year of adaptation.

He told London News of coming from Celtic to Palace : “It was a good season, [but] it’s not easy to come from Scotland and play in England because it’s the best league in the world. But the team helped me to adapt very well, and I’m looking forward to this season.

"Scotland is very different – everything is different. The technique, the intensity [of the league], the [style] of the teams that we play against – it was very different.

"It’s important to have some competition in the team, and Mateta is a good player and a good striker, so we’ll see. I need to work hard this week.

“It was a good pre-season – we worked very hard and want to be ready for the first game.”
