BHUBANESWAR: The higher education department on Saturday urged the principals of colleges and registrars of state public universities to participate in the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' campaign as part of the Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The aim of the 'Har Ghar Tiranga' drive is to encourage the citizens to hoist the national flag in their homes to mark the 75th Independence Day.
The target is to make more than 20 crore households in the country do so from August 13 to August 15, a ministry of education letter read.
The ministry of education has come up with a timeline for the campaign which has three stages.
In the first stage (up to August 10), awareness will be created among teachers, students and staff of the institutions about hoisting of the national flag in their households.
Students may be encouraged to sell flags in their own neighbourhood.
In the second stage (August 11-15), institutions will organise Prabhat Pheris involving students, local youth clubs, volunteers of NSS and NCC.
The tricolour will be hoisted in the households of all students, teachers and staff from August 13 to 15.
