There appears to be some tension between Odell Beckham Jr. and Cam Akers – over none other than a jersey number.
The Rams announced this week that Akers has officially switched his number to 3, which he planned to do last year until he learned that he’d have to pay $500,000 to make it happen. So he decided to wait a year and change from No. 23 to 3 in 2022.
Well, Beckham wore No. 3 with the Rams last season and now that Akers is wearing it, Beckham will have to change if he re-signs with Los Angeles. On Friday, Beckham called out Akers on Twitter and said the running back stopped responding to him while the two were in negotiations for No. 3.
Beckham said he was going to pay Akers for the number, which Akers clearly wasn’t interested in.
But I wouldaaaa gave him the Bread!!! And fkkk tht ima air Cam out ! We were in negotiations for it and he just stoppped responding to me! Yeaaaa I’m puttin him on blast cause he didn’t wanna text back

Last year, after Beckham was signed by the Rams, Akers tweeted this to make it clear that Beckham was just keeping No. 3 warm temporarily.
Temporary hold 💀…..3️⃣

The Rams still hope to re-sign Beckham but he seems pretty unhappy with how things unfolded between him and Akers. Adam Schefter reported last year that Beckham knew he’d be wearing No. 3 temporarily last season, and that he would wear 13 if re-signed by the Rams in 2022.
Leave it to jersey numbers to create drama between players.
