Obsession star teases Curry Barker's next "buddy comedy" turned horror movie: "It's like if Key and Peele walked into Hereditary"

Inde Navarrette as Nikki in Obsession.

Obsession star Cooper Tomlinson has revealed what to expect from Curry Barker's next movie.

Anything but Ghosts, which has been filmed and stars Tomlinson and Barker as two fake paranormal hunters, may be set in the same universe as Obsession – but it's tonally very different from Barker's debut breakout hit.

“The movie’s like if Key and Peele walked into Hereditary. It’s a buddy comedy about these two guys, and it turns really scary," Tomlinson told Raiders of the Lost Podcast of the project, which also stars Bryce Dallas Howard and Aaron Paul.

He added, "It's about these con artist ghost hunters who encounter real ghosts. Then they have to step up and be the thing that they promised this family.”

Anything But Ghosts isn't the only project with Curry Barker's name attached. Fresh off Obsession's whirlwind – and historical – success at the box office, the director has inked a multi-million dollar deal with Universal for his third movie. Barker has also set his sights on a new take on horror mainstay The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.

"I want to do something that's different, but not stray too far from what we know," Barker told GamesRadar+ at an exclusive Q&A with the director in April. "There's some really messed-up stuff happening at that farm. It's untapped."

Obsession, meanwhile, continues its box office success – despite now being available to watch digitally. As of writing, it's tallied up over $370 million at the worldwide box office. It's a figure that sees the horror pass Sinners to become the highest-grossing original live-action movie of the decade to date.
