NT Police investigate death of woman in Katherine remote community

A 33-year-old woman has died in the small community of Rockhole, in the Katherine region, overnight after an alleged family violence incident.

A large crime scene has been established by NT Police around a number of homes in the community, which is also blocking one road. 

Two officers and two police cars have been stationed at the crime since this morning. 

Northern Territory Police says it is investigating the death of the woman, which they say happened on Tuesday night.

Police and paramedics responded to the incident at about 11:00pm, where they found an unresponsive woman.

Detective Senior Sergeant Paul Lawson said she had allegedly been involved in a fight with a female relative.

"Paramedics commenced CPR but unfortunately the 33-year-old woman died at the scene just after midnight," he said.

Detective Senior Sergeant Lawson says the case is being treated as a family violence incident and police investigations are ongoing.
