Harnessing the power of the moon is no longer reserved solely for the astrologically-inclined among us. As awareness grows around the moon’s phases and in turn, how it impacts us emotionally, spiritually and even physically, there’s never been more interest in tapping into the celestial energy of the stars.
But what if we told you the key to astrological enlightenment could be closer to home than you think?
Created in collaboration with OMEGA, the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Mission To The MoonPhase timepiece is a celebration of the full moon.
The new watch joins the Bioceramic MoonSwatch Collection and features Swatch’s patented Bioceramic material – a unique mix of two-thirds ceramic and one-third biosourced materials produced from castor oil.
Not only does the Mission To The MoonPhase MoonSwatch include a chronograph function, but it also references all the other original Speedmaster Moonwatch features in its design, such as the asymmetrical case, the tachymeter-scaled bezel with the dot over the 90, and the iconic Speedmaster subdials.
But where the Mission To The Moonphase watch really surprises is in the hidden details.
The inclusion of Snoopy, in reference to NASA’s mascot and its Silver Snoopy Award – one of the most prestigious handed out by the United States’ space agency – is a nod to Omega’s involvement in the history of space exploration.
The unique moon phase indicator is designed to accurately depict which of the eight different moon phases – or shapes – is currently present at any given time of the lunar cycle.
On this model, Snoopy rests on the moon phase disc, which moves in the subdial at 2 o’clock. The function is also powered with UV ink to reveal a hidden quote from a Snoopy comic strip, which appears between the crescent moon and stars when activated.
The Mission To The MoonPhase watch is fitted with a spacesuit-ready white Velcro strap and Bioceramic attachment loop. And as with all dials in the MoonSwatch collection, the iconic Omega X Swatch branding is featured across the model, fusing iconic elements with modern materiality.
While the fresh take on OMEGA’s legendary Speedmaster Moonwatch – the first watch on the moon – may not transport you into a new galactic realm, the latest addition offers a chance to harness the power of celestial energy much closer to home.
