Notts County v Barnet player ratings as Eli Sam shines and 'livewire' maintains fine form

Ruthless Notts County produced a stunning performance as Eli Sam helped himself to a double as they hit Barnet for six at Meadow Lane.

The Magpies ran out 6-1 winners in the National League clash with Sam opening the scoring with a close-range finish before Callum Roberts added a second.

Sam then grabbed Notts' third with a brilliant finish before Ruben Rodrigues got in on the act after half-time.

Mason Ephron-Clark did pull a goal back but Kyle Wootton made it five when he slammed in from close range after good work from Roberts.

And with a minute remaining Matt Palmer grabbed his first goal of the season with a cool finish.

Here Magpies writer Leigh Curtis rates the players.

Vitezslav Jaros: Didn't have much to do as Notts completely dominated from start to finish and had the game wrapped up at half-time. 7

Jayden Richardson: Plenty of attacking thrust down the right-hand side and demonstrated plenty of energy and intent. Rock solid. 7

Richard Brindley: The former Rotherham defender was excellent when stepping into midfield and had a fine game in the heart of the defence. 7

Kyle Cameron: He produced a peach of a pass that created Sam's second goal which showed just how good he is in possession. Barely put a foot wrong. 8

Adam Chicksen: Joel Taylor now faces a huge fight to get back into this team as Chicksen reminded everybody of his quality at left-back. 7

Matt Palmer: Returned to his very best here as the midfielder oozed quality throughout the 90 minutes. So clever in his decision making and very rarely makes the wrong decision. Scored his first goal of the season. 8

Ed Francis: Played really well in the midfield two in front of the defence. And just did what he was there to do which was to protect and serve. 7

Callum Roberts: Bagged his 10th goal of the season with a strong shot from the edge of the box. Keeper should have saved it but Roberts won't care. Grabbed an assist too. Livewire. 8

Ruben Rodrigues: Looked much sharper than previous weeks and seemed to relish his role playing as a number 10. A good night for the Portuguese attacker who was back on the scoresheet. 7

Eli Sam: His first goal was a poacher's effort, his second was a brilliant finish. A superb performance from the forward that would have done his confidence the world of good. 9

Kyle Wootton: The striker worked incredibly hard along the frontline all night and got his rewards for his tireless work when he smashed in his 16th goal of the season. 7
