A football fan spent 96 minutes in his underwear at a game after making a bet with a commentator.
John Tennyson, 50, from Long Eaton, had bet BBC Sport commentator Charlie Slater, whose voice had been struggling throughout Notts County's match with Kings Lynn on January 11, that if Slater could finish the game he would go to the next game in his underwear.
The Notts County regular stayed true to his word after Slater read out his comment on the radio and spent the entirety of the 96-minute match between Notts County and Grimsby Town on February 5 in his boxers.
Mr Tennyson said that the bet had started off as a joke, but it soon became reality.
"When Charlie was doing the commentary, obviously Colin Slater had passed away and Charlie was feeling a bit rough, and I was listening to the commentary and his voice was shocking.
"So I said on Twitter 'if Charlie can get through the next 90 minutes with that voice I'm going to the next game in my pants', and he literally broke commentary and said it out on the radio - and I thought well that's that then."
The painter and decorator said that other fans were surprised that he had followed through on his promise despite the weather.
"A lot of people thought, my friends that I go with, that I wouldn't go through with it. But then everybody was bewildered saying that they were absolutely freezing. When they put the board up for extra time, I was like 'six minutes I'm not having that', I got to 72 minutes and I thought I'm struggling here.
"I've looked back now and I look purple, I thought if I could get to 80 minutes I would be alright, but they scored as well so that second half just seemed to go on forever.
"I'd usually wrap up as well, I do not know how I got through yesterday. It was good fun but it's one of those day's I'm going to look back and think what was I thinking."
John met Charlie Slater in the ground after their Twitter bet, where the commentator "couldn't believe" what he was seeing.
"Charlie couldn't believe that I was doing it, he had gloves on, a coat and woolly hat and I was just stood there," he added.
On Twitter, Charlie said: "A lot to be said about the on the pitch stuff for sure but off the pitch, a special shout out for [John] who lasted all 96 minutes in just his pants raising a lot of money for one of Colin Slater’s charities."
Mr Tennyson raised money for Emmanuel House, who had been supported by the late Colin Slater MBE, in the weeks up to the game.
He added: "I thought if I was going to be doing this I might as well do it for charity.
"Emmanuel Close was very close to Colin's heart and I thought well that's just going to be perfect, so I made fundraising pages and put a bucket in my local pub. I set a £200 target and it ended up spiralling up to over £1,300, and I think I raised £570 at the game itself from the fans, bless them."
