Nottingham Virgin Media customers frustrated after internet goes down

Virgin Media customers across Nottinghamshire have complained after the internet service stopped working on Saturday night, May 7. Many Virgin Media broadband users reported that at around midnight their internet went down which affected areas across Nottinghamshire, and over the border in Derbyshire.

Customers in areas such as Nottingham, Hucknall, Mansfield, Newark, Kirkby-in-Ashfield, Arnold and Beeston were all reported to have been impacted. Across the border of Nottinghamshire, Long Eaton and Ilkeston were both also reported to have been affected.

According to DownDetector, a site where people report services that are down, the Virgin Media wifi went down from 12.05am.

The site, which received 8,243 reports from users, said: “User reports indicate Virgin Media is having problems since 12:05 AM BST.”

The Virgin Media Service Status checker was also reported to be down last night, as of 8.30am May 7, the service is still down.

Taking to twitter broadband users from Nottingham shared their frustrations with the wifi not working.

One user said: “Is it mainly Nottingham where @virginmedia has gone down?”

A second added: “I'm in Nottingham too it's been down way over an hour now this is a joke”

A third complained:“@virginmedia no internet/Tv for over an hour. Wont let you check service status. Looks like Nottingham down why cant you just post on here to say so???”

Another user said: “@virginmediadown again in Nottingham, getting sick of this now, pathetic service. What is going on”

A service user added:@virginmedia my internet is down. Even hot spotting from my phone to your site I am not even able to access your webpages to check if the issue is local, specific to me or report the problem. Is there a problem in Nottingham?”

Virgin Media has issued a statement saying the disruption to broadband, home phone and TV services, was due to individuals trespassing and causing extensive damage at one of the network sites. Read more here.
