Nottingham Forest supporters are disappointed to see Lewis O'Brien leave the club on loan - with the possibility of the move being turned into a permanent transfer.
The midfielder will play for DC United under head coach Wayne Rooney until 16 July, at which point he may return to the City Ground for pre-season. But the deal includes an option to buy that could be activated in the summer transfer window.
O'Brien's absence from the starting lineup in recent months has created consternation among fans, making just three starts in all competitions since the beginning of October. He was left out of the first-team squad submitted to the Premier League for the second half of the season, increasing speculation over his future at the club.

Forest supporters took to Twitter when the news was announced, with many expressing their dismay at the decision to let the 24-year-old walk out the door. Here is what some of them had to say:
Lower Bridgford Reds: In a midfield that is slow, lethargic and immobile, the decision not to have the Energizer bunny himself in the 25 man squad doesn’t sit right with me. Best of luck @Lewis_OBrien98 #NFFC
Mark Poyser: Absolute joke. Bloke was the best midfielder before his illness. And we’re selling him. If we go down we will not find a better cm for that level than him.
John Brodie: Still don’t get it. We need an engine in midfield and someone who is box to box. He is that player and needed a run of games. Good luck @Lewis_OBrien98.
Kieran Bettridge: Feel so bad for him with the lack of game time he got but best of luck LOB.
Kevin Bushell: Start of the season he was crucial I think the way he’s been shut out is beyond me what we have in midfield now are they any better than O’brien that’s debatable in my opinion strange one.
Mark Read: How we could do with his energy and ball playing in the current side. I’m a big fan of Cooper but don’t get why he was left out of our 25.
Elliott Bower: I personally hope he kicks a ball for us in the Premier league again, did wonders against Fulham at home when he came on.
Max Goodwin: I’ve said my 50p’s worth on this. On a more serious note, very excited for Lewis. A great opportunity to get some minutes in an increasingly competitive league. Hopefully not his last chapter with #NFFC
