Nottingham Forest relegation odds shift dramatically after January transfer window

Nottingham Forest have seen their odds of relegation drift out from 7/10 on to 11/4 outsiders thanks to a solid January on and off the pitch.

The Reds were sat inside the bottom three on New Years Day but are now up to 13th in the table and have opened up a little breathing space between themselves and the relegation zone. Steve Cooper's side went the whole of January unbeaten in the Premier League, picking up vital wins over sides in and around them, Southampton and Leicester City.

They also picked up decent draws from a goal down against Chelsea and Bournemouth, equating to a total of eight points in four matches. Injuries have hit the squad hard in recent weeks and so Forest have used the January window wisely to strengthen with an array of signings.

The likes of Jonjo Shelvey, Chris Wood and Keylor Navas will add plenty of top-level experience to the club, with the latter in particular a significant coup. The £20 million signing of Danilo from Palmeiras also looks an excellent addition, with the midfielder viewed as a top talent in his native Brazil.

Speaking on the relegation battle, Betway’s Head of PR Chad Yeomans, said: “As interesting as the battle at the top of the table is, there is so much conversation around the other end of the table. At the start of the season, Nottingham Forest spent big and didn’t really put up the performances to mirror their massive outlay, however, since the turn of the year, they’ve been pulling results out of the bag and went from 7/10 to be relegated to their current price of 11/4.

"Our trading department are clearly impressed with their January signings that include Jonjo Shelvey, who has vast Premier League experience and Keylor Navas, who moves to Forest from PSG.”

Southampton 8/11
