Nottingham Forest have received a "hopeful" injury update on Cheikhou Kouyate after the midfielder was hurt while on World Cup duty with Senegal.
The 32-year-old started for his country against Netherlands on Monday and played 72 minutes before going down with an ankle injury following a collision with Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong.
Following their 2-0 loss to Louis van Gaal's side, Senegal boss Aliou Cisse said the Reds summer signing had twisted his ankle, whilst Sport News Africa later suggested he had suffered a torn thigh muscle and was expected to miss subsequent group matches against Qatar and Ecuador.

Kouyate was indeed missing when Senegal were back in action on Friday to beat hosts Qatar 3-1, prompting concerns for his fitness when Premier League football returns next month. However, injury expert Ben Dinnery issued a "hopeful" update for the Reds regarding Kouyate's situation via GiveMeSport. "With regards to that injury, it’s one that would need to be fully assessed to determine the extent of that ankle issue," he said.
“Given the fact we’re a month or so away from the resumption of the league, you’d be hopeful that he would be okay for Forest.“
