Nottingham Forest promotion hero Djed Spence had a memorable afternoon with his loan club as they came out 2-0 winners over a star-studded Paris Saint-Germain side.
The full-back, who played a massive part in the Reds’ return to the Premier League, signed a six-month loan deal with Ligue 1 side Rennes in January. The move came just six months after he completed a permanent transfer to Tottenham.
His performances for Forest last season prompted Spurs to make a move for him in the summer, but the season hasn’t gone how the player would have hoped. After playing just five minutes in the Premier League in the first half of the season, the full-back went to France looking for game time.

Since joining Rennes on loan, he has started all seven of the club’s Ligue 1 games. His toughest test coming on Sunday afternoon as he faced the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi of PSG.
Spence and his teammates stood up to the challenge, keeping a clean sheet in a shock 2-0 win over the Ligue 1 leaders. The former Forest man received a WhoScored rating of 7.0 for his performance, only bettered in Rennes backline by Christopher Wooh, who scored 7.2.
In comparison, one of PSG’s star players in Mbappe was given a rating of 6.3, showing how quiet he was kept by the Rennes backline, including Spence.
