Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper is closing in on a number of transfer targets as the boss of the newly promoted club looks to strengthen his squad.
The Reds have been linked with several players from home and abroad. Here's the latest transfer news from NottinghamshireLive on Wednesday, July 6.
Forest transfer 'verbally agreed' for €15m
Nottingham Forest are reportedly on the verge of completing the signing of Mainz defender Moussa Niakhate.
Steve Cooper has been chasing the 26 year-old for some time as he looks to bolster his defence ahead of the Reds' return to the Premier League. And a move worth £10 million, plus £5m in add-ons , is close to being completed according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Now, fresh reports from German media outlet BILD claim that the centre-back has 'verbally agreed' to become Forest's fourth signing of the summer. The report suggest that Niakhate has signed his contract at the City Ground and the deal will be completed in the next 48 hours.
Bayern Munich transfer stance on Forest target
Bayern Munich are reportedly 'open to selling' Omar Richards to Nottingham Forest this summer.
Reports from the Telegraph claim the Reds have held talks with the German giants over a move for the English left-back this transfer window. Steve Cooper's side are not alone in their pursuit for the 24-year-old as French side Lyon are also keen.
Richards joined Bayern on a free transfer last summer after impressing with Reading in the Championship. The London-born defender featured 12 times in the Bundesliga last year, with a further four appearances coming in the Champions League.
Forest on red alert as target rejects Rangers contract
Nottingham Forest have been put on red alert after transfer target Joe Aribo "rejected" a new contract offer from Rangers.
The 25-year-old midfielder has been linked with Forest for some time, with the Reds said to be among a number of English clubs interested in signing the Rangers star. Aribo was on impressive form for large parts of last season at Ibrox and, while his form dipped after the Africa Cup of Nations, he scored in the Europa League final and was key to Rangers' Scottish Cup win.
According to talkSPORT (via Daily Record), Forest are joined by Southampton, Crystal Palace and Fulham on the list of clubs interested in signing Aribo. The Nigeria international's decision to turn down a new contract could see him become available on a cut-price deal in the current window.
Forest face problem in Arsenal transfer bid
Nottingham Forest could be set for a transfer blow in their reported pursuit of Arsenal's Ainsley Maitland-Niles.
Forest are seeking a replacement for Djed Spence, who returned to his parent club, Middlesbrough, following an impressive loan spell at the City Ground. And the Gunners are thought to be willing to offload the 24-year-old.
Steve Cooper is familiar with the midfielder whom he coached at under-17s level for England. Maitland-Niles progressed through the Gunners' academy ranks, before making his senior debut in 2014.
