Nottingham Forest are reportedly in 'advanced' talks to sign Union Berlin centre-forward Taiwo Awoniyi for a club-record £17.5 million transfer fee.
The 24-year-old has a release clause that the Reds are reported to be meeting as part of the process to bring the Nigeria international to the City Ground. It wouldn't be Awoniyi's first time in England, either.
Despite never making a competitive appearance, the striker spent six years at Liverpool but struggled to obtain a work permit meaning that action was limited to the club's training ground in between seven separate loans away from the club across Europe. Manager Jurgen Klopp is said to remain a 'huge admirer' of Awoniyi and hold a belief that the player can 'make an impact' in England.
