Nottingham Forest face competition from Newcastle United for Pablo Maia, it is claimed
The defensive midfielder has made 84 appearances for the Brazilian side since making his debut last year after graduating from the club's youth set-up. He has scored five goals and provided one assist so far during his career.
Maia was linked with the Reds at the beginning of the month when it was claimed that Forest had entered the race for his signature. Premier League rivals West Ham and Fulham were also listed as having registered their interest.

But now in a separate report, journalist Daniel Perrone on São Paulo Sempre claims in quotes translated by Sport Witness that Newcastle and Spanish side Atletico Madrid are also interested.
The Magpies will be playing Champions League Football next season which may sway the 21-year-old towards a move to the North East. However, the report claims that Forest are "certainly in the running" having "already probed" him "for some time".
It is also pointed out that the Reds already have a Brazilian contingent in midfield with Gustavo Scarpa and Danilo among the 30 players to have arrived at the City Ground since Steve Coper's side were promoted to the top-flight through the play-offs in 2022.
Another report from Globo Esporte claims that Sao Paulo are willing to negotiate his transfer if they receive offers in the region of €15million (around £12m).
