Nottingham Forest have seen a bid for in-demand striker Antoine Semenyo rejected by Bristol City.
The 22-year-old has been in stunning form over the last two months since recovering from injury, scoring four goals and producing nine assists in his last nine games.
His latest goal came in a 2-2 draw at Preston North End on Saturday.
The Reds are looking to add a striker to their squad ahead of the transfer deadline after seeing Lewis Grabban limp off injured during Sunday’s 2-1 defeat at Cardiff City.
NottinghamshireLive understands Forest have lodged a bid for Semenyo, as first reported by BristolLive.
But the Robins are said to value Semenyo at around £20million, with the Reds’ offer reportedly “falling well short” of that figure.
The Ashton Gate club are under no pressure to sell Semenyo, who is contracted until 2023 with the option of a further year.
It remains to be seen if Forest will increase their bid ahead of tonight’s 11pm deadline.
They turned down a bid for the player from Chelsea three years ago while he was on loan at Newport County.
The Robins are also said to have turned down a loan bid from Cardiff City for striker Nahki Wells.
