Nottingham Forest left-back Aaron Donnelly is being linked with a move out of the club in the January transfer window.
Sky Sports reporter Lyall Thomas says the Vale are closing on a loan deal for the 19-year-old Northern Ireland under-21 international. Donnelly, who joined Forest in 2019 Dungannon Swifts, signed a new deal in December.
The defender his first team debut against Grimsby Town earlier this season, playing the full 90 minutes as the Reds won the EFL Cup tie 3-0. He also featured in a pre-season friendly against Port Vale in 2021.

The League One outfit has looked to Forest for other loan deals in recent years, bringing in Jake Taylor, Will Swan, Tyler Walker, Dimitar Evtimov and Adam Crookes before Darrell Clarke was appointed manager in 2021.
Donnelly has featured regularly for the Under-18 and Under-23 teams and has trained with the first team, but a loan move would be the next logical step in his development.
"Nottingham feels like home away from home for me now, it’s a lovely city, the people are nice and I’m really enjoying it," the youngster said after signing his new contract last month.
"It’s a dream come true, firstly being involved in the under-18s and under-21s and then going on to make my first team debut this season was amazing. We’re playing against top level players every week which is really helping with our development and I want to keep pushing on from here."
