Nottingham Forest braced for 'swift' Middlesbrough transfer decision over Djed Spence

Nottingham Forest are set to find out Middlesbrough's decision over the future of Djed Spence as an attempt at a "swift" resolution will reportedly be made in the "immediate aftermath" of the Championship play-off final.

The 21-year-old is expected to make the 46th and final appearance of this season's loan spell for Forest at Wembley Stadium on Sunday afternoon, but whether that stay extends beyond this month remains to be seen. Steve Cooper 's side securing promotion to the Premier League could go a long way to deciding it too.

There is understood to be significant interest from the top-flight in the England under-21 international, with north London rivals Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur both teams with European football next season that have been credited with an interest. Further north, Manchester United and Leeds United have also been linked, as have German giants Bayern Munich.

With all that being said, reports in The Northern Echo claim that Boro "have not held any discussions" over the player's future "during the course of the play-off campaign". This is said to be out of respect to Spence and the Forest squad.

Once that campaign is over after Sunday, whatever the outcome, Chris Wilder's side are "keen to move quickly" due to the knock-on effect any windfall could have on their other transfer business. It is claimed that Spence is set to be valued at around £20million, and Boro "ready to listen to offers".

Spurs' stance on Spence is reportedly much clearer, though. They are expected to make a move this transfer window, regardless of whether the Reds are promoted or not.
