Nottingham Forest boss Steve Cooper says he is looking forward to establishing a good relationship with new sporting director Filippo Giraldi.
The Italian took up post at the City Ground this week, as the Reds look to address a poor run of Premier League results. His remit is to audit the sporting side of the business and evaluate the existing infrastructure, in what is a non-invasive role. He will look at how improvements can be made behind the scenes.
Giraldi spent nine years at Watford, joining as chief scout before going on to become technical director. During his spell with the Hornets, the club signed experienced players such as Etienne Capoue, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Gerard Deulofeu, as well as young talent such as Richarlison, Ismaila Sarr and Joao Pedro.

"I've enjoyed my relationship so far with people above - ownership and Dane (Murphy), the chief executive,” said head coach Cooper. “I hope, and I'm sure, that will continue now with people coming in.
"I'm looking forward to working with him. I only met him for the first time in the last few days. Hopefully we've started as we mean to go on.
"It's very modern now to have a technical director, sporting director, and working collaboratively. I'm all for that.
"If the club thinks the appointment of a sporting director will help us improve and take us forward, then they've completely got my support. I'm looking forward to being involved in that.”
CEO Murphy’s job is understood to have been under threat earlier in the week, along with head of data and analytic recruitment George Syrianos and head of scouting Andy Scott. But the American is now believed to be set to stay at Forest, following talks.
