Blue hues are having a moment this summer, and Jessica Alba just backed cobalt as the shade to wear now and into autumn. While sky blues have dominated the spring/summer fashion colour trends for 2026, I'm noticing an increasing amount of ocean blue hues creeping onto the high street, and Jessica's latest look has confirmed my suspicions.
Sharing a snap on her socials last month, Jessica posed in a classic oversized shirt by Madewell, in a deep, bright blue, which she tucked into jeans and finished with a pair of gold earrings. The ensemble was simple, but her bold button-down had a punchy aesthetic that was perfectly cheerful for summer, but certainly a colour to carry into autumn too.
A colourway that's ideal for a mid-summer wardrobe refresh. Cobalt will team beautifully with other neutrals, making a bold statement in a white jeans outfit, or looking luxe with tan. And come autumn, paired with chocolate brown for a more subtle finish. Reflecting the Mediterranean, I love this summer shade, and have rounded up some of my best buys below.

It's no surprise that Jessica chose this shirt as it has a lovely relaxed fit and it's made from a soft, breathable cotton fabric.

Jessica nailed it with her bright shirt styling and kept things casual with just denim and classic earrings, but you can easily give a bright button-down a dressier rework by tucking yours into a drop-waist skirt and adding heels, or take it to the office by layering under a tailored blazer and wide-leg trousers.
If you ever wonder 'what colour suits me?', then a splash of dark blue is a great place to start, as the bold yet rich shade is universally flattering and feels both fresh and classic all at the same time.
Cobalt blue is perfect for the spring/summer fashion trends for 2026, and the primary hue will look fab in the sunshine with other strong tones like red and green, but the shade is also deep enough to work right into autumn too. Blue will buddy up nicely with warm neutrals like caramel, plum and brown, so you can wear your style staple on repeat for the foreseeable.
