Northumberland's first Michelin star restaurant has launched three lodges for overnight guests.
Restaurant Hjem, located in the village of Wall, near Hexham, opened in 2019. Despite the disruption caused by the coronavirus pandemic, it was awarded its first Michelin star in 2021, which it retained in 2022 and was joined on the coveted list by Pine at Vallum Farm.
Hjem is listed at number 25 in the UK National Restaurant Awards' Top 100 and serves Scandinavian-influenced cuisine with Northumbrian ingredients. The 28-cover restaurant already has 11 en-suite rooms in the Hadrian Hotel, and it has now added a trio of "luxury" lodges opposite the restaurant, which open out onto views of the surrounding Northumbrian countryside.

It is hoped that the new lodges will give all diners the option of enjoying wine pairings with the restaurant's 12-course tasting menu, before a breakfast the following morning prepared by head chef Alex Nietosvuori and his team, which can be delivered to the door. Lodges come with a double, bed, seating area and en-suite bathroom.
Ally Thompson, general manager at Hjem, said that the new overnight options have already proven very popular.
She said: "So many of our guests choose to book dinner, bed and breakfast when they’re planning their visit to Hjem and the addition of the three lodges has meant even more of them can do so. We’ve been delighted with the response to the new rooms which have been built and furnished to offer guests the opportunity to relax in style and comfort before and after their evening at Hjem."
Dinner, bed and breakfast packages start at £360 for two guests sharing a room. To find out more about Hjem, visit the website.
