Northern Ireland weather warning for wind issued by Met Office

A yellow weather warning for wind has been issued for Northern Ireland.

It comes into place from midnight on Wednesday, October 5 until 11.59pm on the same day.

The Met Office say strong winds may lead to disruption.

What to expect

  • There is a small chance of injuries and danger to life from flying debris
  • There is a slight chance of some damage to buildings, such as tiles blown from roofs
  • There is a small chance of longer journey times or cancellations as road, rail, air and ferry services are affected
  • There is a small chance that some roads and bridges could close
  • There is a slight chance that power cuts may occur, with the potential to affect other services, such as mobile phone coverage
  • There is a small chance that injuries and danger to life could occur from large waves and beach material being thrown onto sea fronts, coastal roads and properties

For Monday's weather, the forecaster said: "Mainly dry in the afternoon although some rain at times in the west, strong winds around the coast. Maximum temperature 16C."

"A windy night but dry at first with the odd clear spell in the east. Rain spreading east later in the night but clearing by dawn. Minimum temperature 10C."

And for Tuesday, the Met Office added: "Early rain clearing the east by mid morning and turning drier and brighter through the afternoon. Westerly winds easing too. Further rain likely later in the evening. Maximum temperature 15C."

Wet and windy conditions are expected on Wednesday, turning cooler with blustery showers for the end of the week, the forecaster said.
