Northern Ireland weather forecast ahead of weekend as mini heatwave set to continue

Northern Ireland has been enjoying sunshine and very warm temperatures this week as a mini heatwave hits the region.

This weather is set to continue for the next few days, with the temperature expected to rise to a high of 28C on Thursday and Friday, August 11 and 12.

The Met Office said: "Thursday brings another dry, sunny and very warm day. Early fog patches burning off then dry with unbroken sunshine. Very warm to hot for most with the highest temperatures in the south, but some cooling onshore breezes."

For Thursday night, the forecaster said: "A warm and sunny evening. Staying dry overnight with some long clear spells but some fog patches or low cloud reforming in places, especially the Bann Valley. Minimum temperature 12C."

And for Friday, any fog patches will burn off to leave another dry and sunny day. "Very warm to hot, some cooling onshore breezes. Maximum temperature 28C," the Met Office added.

For the outlook from Saturday to Sunday, it's expected to stay very warm with sunshine.

The forecaster continued: "Afternoon sea breezes with some early morning mist and fog. Increasing chance of heavy showers later Sunday and Monday."
