North Yorkshire Council says it is facing a £62.3m funding gap for school maintenance over the next five years. The government has provided £6.8m for repairs, but the council says it needs almost £14m more just to clear the existing backlog.
With responsibility for 175 schools across the county, the council says it will keep pressing the government for extra funding.
