The full list of candidates standing in North Tyneside at next month’s local elections has been confirmed.
Voters will soon head to the polls for this year's local elections on May 4, with council seats up for grabs in all 20 wards in North Tyneside.
One of the big stories to watch on polling day will be in the St. Mary's ward, where the former leader of the borough's Conservative group, George Westerwater, will be running as an independent. Coun Westwater, along with councillors Pam McIntyre and Judith Wallace, recently resigned their party memberships after accusing the local Tories of "toxic behaviour" and "sustained bullying".
The process will be different this year as, for the first time, voters will need to provide photo identification before being allowed to cast their vote.
The deadline to register to vote is Monday, April 17, and applications for a postal vote must be made by Tuesday, April 18.
