North Lanarkshire Schools Pipe Band drummers have been crowned World Champions 2022.
The band competed at Glasgow Green on Saturday in the ‘Novice B’ category against 14 other state and private school bands finishing second overall with the drumming section taking world glory.
It caps another successful season where the band placed fourth at the British Championships, third at the European Championships, fourth at the Scottish Championships and first at the North Berwick Games.
Pupils represented North Lanarkshire from schools in Airdrie, Bellshill, Coatbridge, Cumbernauld, Kilsyth, Motherwell and Wishaw.
The band's Pipe Major, Ross Cowan, told Lanarkshire Live: “Due to COVID restrictions, our young people only began rehearsing again at the beginning of January.
"They showed resilience, commitment, talent and hard work to make sure they made it out on to the field this year, the band is something we can all be proud of in North Lanarkshire.
“They are a credit to their families, schools, and local communities.
“The band would like to thank North Lanarkshire Council for the fantastic opportunities they give our young people through the Instrumental Music Service in our schools.”
The Pipe Band rehearses all year round at Coatbridge High School on Wednesday evenings.
As the new school year begins, we would encourage anyone who would like to learn to play the pipes or drums to contact their Music Department or email: nlcowanj@northlan.org.uk
