A budding singer songwriter from Lanarkshire hopes to emulate the success of his idol Ed Sheeran as he launches a solo career.
Jay Malley's uplifting new track 'September' touches on his personal experience of falling in love as a young teenager.
Inspired by the likes of pop superstar Ed Sheeran and fellow Scot Paolo Nutini, the 19-year-old music student, from East Kilbride, told Lanarkshire Live he would "love" to follow in his heroes' footsteps.
He said: "My music is mainly acoustic pop/rock so I'm into Ed Sheeran, Gerry Cinnamon, Paolo Nutini and Sam Fender but I'm also influenced by bands like The Fratellis and the Arctic Monkeys.
"I would love to emulate them.
"My single September is written about my experience of being in love as a young teen - it's one of my more uplifting songs.
"My first song Never Change was more of a song about losing a relationship and the struggles of going through that.
"I tend to write about relatable subjects - love, romance, loss - I find writing about those sorts of subjects can make my music reach out to people who are maybe going through the same."
Jay is already a well-known face on the Glasgow music circuit gigging with his band Mobilised Music Project which formed at his hometown youth centre Universal Connections.
They showcased their new album Mobilised Music Project Volume One at Stereo on Thursday and sold out the Glasgow venue.
Now Jay has high hopes of a successful solo career after first single Never Change made waves across the water with downloads in the US.
"Never Change is doing really well in America, it was really well-received, which, to me, is mind-blowing", added Jay.
"I was never really that kid who expressed himself, I was the quiet kid sitting at the back of the class. Music has given me the recognition and attention I've always wanted.
"I owe all I've achieved so far to my teachers at Duncanrig Secondary who got me playing guitar."
September was recorded in Riverside Studios with the help of Jay's lecterer Shawn Neethling from his HND Music Performance course at Riverside Music College.
The single is out now and available on all major download sites.
