Scottish pop star Edwyn Collins has donated a drum to a group of young Motherwell fans, after hearing that they were using a catering tub.
Well Society board member Derek Watson, who helped make the donation happen, says it's a real community effort from fans of the North Lanarkshire club.
Watson says a video he put online back in May was spotted by Collins' partner Grace Maxwell, who is a Motherwell fan and a member of the Well Society.
She and the Orange Juice legend, who is perhaps most famous for his solo hit ' A Girl Like You' reached out to donate not only a drum, but a bag to carry it in, drum sticks and beaters, so the kids don't go short.
It will be given its debut in the Cooper Stand for Motherwell's home game against Livingston on Saturday.
Derek says it's a great example of the community coming together, with the young fans previously using a mayonnaise tub from local sandwich shop Upper Crust.
He said: "Back in May, I think it was, I saw a video of the wee guys playing so I put something on Twitter.
"They got a mayonnaise tub out of Upper Crust one day on the way to a game, cleaned it out and have been using it as a drum in the Cooper Stand, just trying to copy what's going on in the John Hunter Stand.
"I shared the video, I thought 'this is great, these guys are the future of the club, we'll need to try and find an old drum for them'.
"Grace, who is Edwyn Collins' partner, is also a Well Society member, originally from Bellshill. They stay in the Highlands now but always keep an eye out for the Motherwell results - well, Grace does, anyway!
"She saw it and sent me a message, saying she and Edwyn would sort them out a drum."
Derek, who is bass guitarist with The Banter Thiefs, added: "Last week she got in touch to say Edwyn was playing at the Bandstand in Kelvingrove, would the young kids in the video be up for coming into the sound-check and we can present them with this drum we've ordered on-line for them.
"It was excellent, it's a really nice gesture, so they went in about 4pm on Saturday. There was a handful of them, they set the drum up for them, and gave them a bag they can carry it in to the games, and stuff. with drumsticks and beaters and things as well, in case they break any of them.
"It was great, the kids were delighted, but I don't know if the fans sitting round about them are going to be so happy!"
Derek says he didn't know the boys or their parents, but says it shows what the club and Well Society stand for.
He said: "I didn't know the kids but I know one of their dads now. After Grace said they would donate the drum, I put a Tweet out asking if anyone knows the parents, and we'll make sure we get the drum to them.
"They said they would be delighted, it's a lovely gesture. It's an example of Motherwell fans coming together and I think it really helps that Grace is a Well Society member.
"I think for them it's a way of putting back into the community and into the club, as well.
"But those in the Cooper Stand on Saturday - beware!"
Edwyn Collins, 62, replied to Derek's Tweet and said: "Keep on chooglin' boys!! Love Edwyn x."
Grace said: "The Motherwell massive! Heaps of love and happy drumming to Jack, Lyle, Fraser, Mark and wee James who was too shy (like me!) for the photo!"
It was a good day all round for the fans, with Motherwell beating Aberdeen 3-2 at Pittodrie.
