The autumn weather will well and truly hit the North East on Wednesday.
Anyone heading out on October 5 should make sure to wear a coat and pack an umbrella as the Met Office is predicting heavy rain and strong winds throughout the morning. A yellow weather warning for wind will remain in place for the region until 11am with gusts reaching up to 31 miles per hour.
Temperatures will peak at 16°C, although it will remain slightly cooler at around 13°C for much of the day.
However, the wet start will give way to a bright afternoon with some sunny spells making it the ideal time for anyone hoping to get out for a walk and see the autumn leaves begin to turn. Looking ahead to Thursday, the Met Office is predicting that it will be a cloudy, but dry, day with highs of 16°C.
A Met Office spokesman said: "Wet and windy for a time during the morning, giving way to a brighter afternoon with sunny spells and scattered sharp blustery showers. A little cooler than on Tuesday
"Remaining rather windy to end the working week, with further bouts of rain interspersed with clearer, more showery interludes. Saturday then perhaps starting fine with lighter winds but clouding over."
