North East weather: Hour-by-hour forecast for the weekend according to the Met Office

If you're heading out and about this bank holiday weekend, be sure to pack your waterproofs and umbrellas - the North East is in for a wet couple of days.

According to the latest weather forecast from the Met Office, there will be patchy cloud overnight on Friday with light winds and the odd patch of mist or fog forming as we head into the weekend. Saturday is set to be dull and cloudy, with outbreaks of rain and drizzle that may turn heavy at times and a breeze along the coast.

Sunday will also be mostly cloudy with a risk of showers, possibly turning thundery, with temperatures reaching highs of up to 13°C across the weekend - the region is expected to see some sunny spells on bank holiday Monday, but still with a risk of heavy showers in the afternoon. Here's an hour-by-hour breakdown what the weather looks like in Newcastle over the next two days.
