North East hour-by-hour Met Office weather forecast for Friday September 30

The North East is set for a wet end to the week, with heavy showers across the region on Friday afternoon following a dry morning.

They will clear briefly for a short period of sunshine before a clear night. The weekend will be milder, with sunny intervals and clouds expected on Saturday.

The Met Office said: "Cloud quickly thickening after dawn, with persistent, occasionally heavy, rain and strong winds spreading east. Gales over high ground.
