New research has revealed the top nine honeymoon road trips for newlyweds across the world, and an iconic Scottish route is included.
With wedding season in full swing, many couples will be looking to book the perfect honeymoon. While a lot will be keen for a quiet getaway on a secluded beach, others will be more interested in an exciting road trip.
To help those wanting to book an adventurous honeymoon, travel experts at SkyParkSecure collated the best honeymoon road trips all around the globe. Among the routes around the world featured on the list is the North Coast 500 in Scotland.
The scenic 515-mile route starts and ends at Inverness Castle, and includes many highlights of the north Highlands, such as Gairloch, Ullapool, Scourie, Durness, Castle of Mey, Thurso, John o' Groats, Wick, Dunrobin Castle, and Dingwall. It features gorgeous coastal scenery, white sandy beaches, dramatic mountains, and charming fishing villages, as well as a wealth of hidden gems.
When putting together the list, SkyParkSecure considered factors such as the average distance between each stop, the number of romantic restaurants, and the number of couples activities. Based on these criteria, each road trip was assigned a score out of 40.
The experts commented: "Rounding off our top honeymoon road trips is the iconic NC500, that takes you on a scenic route around Scotland, spanning 516 miles.
"Start or end your trip in Inverness, which has the most romantic restaurants and activities than any other stop, at 30 and 57, respectively. Head to pretty Inverness Castle, situated on the River Ness, and then make sure you drive out to Loch Ness too.
"Other notable stops along the way include Applecross, which offers dramatic coastline and stunning hikes; and Ullapool, with its unrivalled scenery."
