Nolan Arenado, the eight-time All-Star and 10-time Gold Glove third baseman for the St. Louis Cardinals, is open to a trade as he seeks to join a World Series contender at the age of 33. His agent, Joel Wolfe, mentioned that Arenado feels a sense of urgency to be on a winning team, describing it as his 'biological clock ticking.' The Cardinals acquired Arenado from the Colorado Rockies before the 2021 season, but the team has not made significant postseason progress during his tenure.

Despite primarily playing third base throughout his career, Arenado is willing to switch to first base if it benefits the team. In the 2021 season, he posted a .272 batting average with 16 home runs and 71 RBIs, which was considered one of his less productive seasons in the past decade.

Arenado's willingness to adapt to a new position was evident when he expressed to Cardinals' president of baseball operations, John Mozeliak, that he is open to a position change to facilitate a potential trade. His agent Wolfe emphasized that Arenado is not opposed to playing first base and is even confident in his ability to excel defensively at that position.

With a career batting average of .285, 341 home runs, and 1,132 RBIs, Arenado has been a standout player for both the Cardinals and the Rockies. He is owed $74 million for the remaining three years of his contract, which was initially worth $275 million over nine years. Additionally, Arenado holds a full no-trade clause, granting him the authority to determine his destination in the event of a trade.

The ongoing discussions between Arenado, his agent, and the Cardinals management involve exploring potential trade destinations that align with his preferences. While there are certain teams that Arenado would prefer not to join, the dialogue remains fluid as they aim to find a suitable match that benefits all parties involved.

As the offseason progresses, the future of Nolan Arenado and his potential trade from the St. Louis Cardinals continues to be a topic of interest within the baseball community.
